South Ogden flag-burning investigated as a hate crime

South Ogden police are investigating a post-election flag burning as a possible hate crime.

Police were called to a home near 4300 South and 600 East late Tuesday night when a black family had just gotten home from volunteering at the polls. The family supports Barack Obama and was celebrating his historic win.

"They were excited about the outcome and had decided to display the American flag," said South Ogden police officer Marci Edwards.

A few minutes later, police said a man in the home noticed the flag on fire. He ran outside and put out the fire, but police have few leads....
